Charter Assessors
When an authority signs up for the Charter they nominate 4 assessors (2 officers and 2 councillors) that meet the desired personal qualities for an assessor.
To date we have 88 nominated assessors. Nominated assessors will be invited by email to take part in assessments and are expected to be available for no more than three days per assessment every year. If you are interested contact Carrie Rowberry.
Assessors are asked to:
- Spend several hours reading the authority's self assessment and supporting evidence documents.
- Attend a team preparation day at least a week before the assessment (download an example programme)
- Attend a full day on-site visit where you will interview a range of members and officers about Member Development (download an example on-site visit timetable)
- Attend a consensus morning/afternoon to agree feedback to the authority.
There is always a lead officer from WMC who facilitates the preparation day and supports the assessment team. The lead officer liaises with the authority and provides feedback on the assessment outcome.
