Funding for SMEs
As part of the Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP), funding is available for all SMEs within the West Midlands area under the strands of Eco-Innovation, Entrepreneurship Promotion and ICT . New Contract for West Midlands European Service
West Midlands European Service (WMES) Birmingham has recently won a contract to deliver the NCP (National Contract Point) for the European Eco-Innovation Programme. The 12 month contract was awarded by the Technology Strategy Board. WMES Birmingham already delivers advice and support to the West Midlands on the Eco-Innovation Programme, however as the NCP this service will be extended to the whole of the UK. The Eco-Innovation Programme is part of the European Commission's Competitiveness and Innovation Programme and helps to support the introduction of innovative products, processes and services that reduce environmental impact, prevent pollution, or help to achieve a more efficient and responsible use of resources. The Eco-innovation call is now open and closes on 8th September.

Eco-innovation success for West Midlands SMEs
In 2010/11 West Midlands European Service supported West Midlands SMEs EnvAqua Ltd and JSJS Designs Ltd to secure funding for Eco-innovation projects. EnvAqua ltd secured €330,000 for their SUSONENCE: Sustainable Ultrasonoically Enhanced Chemical Processes project while JSJS Designs Ltd secured €430,250 for their GreenAccess project.
EnvAqua ltd's SUSONENCE project will be up and running in July 2011. For more information on JSJS Designs Ltd's GreenAccess project please visit ICTWM.
