Funding for the environment and protecting nature

Bringing the West Midlands to LIFE+

Applications totalling €4.5 million have been submitted by four West Midlands organisations to the 2011 Call of Europe’s environment programme LIFE+.  LIFE+ supports actions on a range of environmental interests including nature and biodiversity, waste, water, air, health, climate change adaptation and information campaigns across Member States.

The four projects are led by the Environment Agency, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, SB Waste Management and Keele University with a further six West Midlands organisation as partners. Wide ranging in theme, aims include innovative tools for water quality improvement, in landscape-level conservation, waste management and the social benefits of open space.
